About Us

Sisterly Care Lactation Services (SCLS) was inspired by the abundance of love and support that I received during my prenatal and postpartum days.

My husband, Ryn, and I were constantly surrounded by our sisters and “sistas”, the people we collectively refer to as our Village (including friends & family members near and far). Members of this Village served as everything from unofficial doulas to counselors, chefs, and babysitters. This allowed us to observe a 30-day postpartum at-home retreat, helping with physical healing and building emotional strength for life’s ultimate role - parenthood. It also allowed me to focus my precious energy on nurturing these new little people when faced with several breastfeeding challenges.

Fortunately, these challenges exposed me to several excellent lactation consultants who saved my breastfeeding journey and inspired a change from a ten-year Nutrition career. I combined my passion for Lactation and Nutrition, volunteering as a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and a peer counselor, eventually becoming board-certified in 2021. I formed SCLS later in 2022 with the belief that every new parent deserves Sisterly Care in the comfort of their own home.

At SCLS, I strive to promote healing and conserve precious energy in this new and exciting phase of life. I will give you the tools to meet your feeding & parenting goals while promoting parental health. I will talk to you and care for you as if we are “sistas.”

IBCLC, Lactation Consultant, Breastfeeding support
  • My name is Yodit (pronounced Yo - deet); however my family and friends have called me Judy for as long as I can remember! I am an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and a Nutrition and Dietetic Technician Registered (NDTR). I look forward to helping you overcome any feeding challenges and would be honored to support you on your journey.

  • I grew up in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and moved to Washington State to begin college. Thanks to a boy I met (who is now my husband), Washington became my permanent home. We now live in the Snohomish/Mill Creek area with our two beautiful children (Simeon and Sarai) and our dog, Kennedy. My parents still live in Ethiopia, though they get to visit frequently!

  • My interest in working with pregnant and lactating people began at Pregnancy AID WIC of Snohomish County, where I provided nutrition and breastfeeding support. Shortly after, I became the Lead Dietetic Technician at Seattle Children’s Hospital working under dietitians to provide medical nutrition therapy to children of all ages, with conditions ranging from severe allergies to metabolic disorders to cancer. As a Nutrition Patient Services Supervisor, I was a vital team member that launched Seattle Children's first-ever in-house room service operation providing fresh, healthy, and sustainable meals. I also worked alongside exceptional lactation consultants to help start the Lactating Meal Program, which offered free daily meals to lactating parents staying at the hospital.

  • I faced various breastfeeding challenges ranging from latching difficulties, pain, low supply, & slow infant weight gain - that was just baby # 1! With baby # 2, I was an exclusively pumping mom for one year! Meeting with fantastic lactation consultants saved my breastfeeding relationships and ignited my deep dive into everything breastfeeding and maternal health. I have been a La Leche League leader since January 2020 and decided to pursue my passion full-time after joining The Perfect Push Lactation Clinic as an intern in March of 2021.

I adore working with babies, and I’m passionate about making deep connections with parents. My goal is to share current information and personal experiences about nutrition and breastfeeding. I advocate for parental health and believe that achieving wellness for the parent(s) is a must as it will ultimately promote wellness for the baby. I provide a balance between evidence-based care while empowering parents to trust their intuition. I also understand firsthand the stress of having a newborn that is not feeding well and feeling like a total failure as a new mother. I want every new parent to know that they are not alone and will get through this with a bit of help!

  • I enjoy being outside with my two children (preferably in sunny weather), experimenting with new recipes, and catching up with my family & friends. Naturally, being from the birthplace of coffee, I am a coffee snob & addict. Any alone time I get will likely be spent at a spa!
